Our en suite bedroom was beautifully furnished, with a huge very comfortable bed, crisp fresh linen and the ensuite was of a very high standard. The breakfast options were continental or "Full English",the latter being cooked fresh to order and delicious. A great stay at this very nice guesthouse, the hosts were extremely helpful and friendly, my room was very comfortable, warm and quiet. A good sized bath towel which I always appreciate but I rarely seem to get these days when I stay away. The breakfast was delicious too. I would definitely return. The only one frustration was that I could not get connected to WiFi in my top floor room despite my trying repeatedly. Aside from that though, no negatives at all.

Had a lovely stay at Croft Guest House. Breakfast was cooked to order, fresh and piping hot! Appreciated the small touches of fresh milk and bottles of water in the fridge which you can take up to your room.We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Our stay at Croft Guest House was perfect. Everything you could want and more. Lovely owners, the rooms are lovely and all your needs are more than met. There are some lovely extra touches like the handmade soap, the his and hers perfumes in the bedroom. There is extra milk and water in the fridge downstairs if you run out in your room. There are even wine and champagne glasses that you can use from the dining room. This is a true gem of a guest house. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to see you again very soon. Thank you for such an amazing experience.

We stayed for 3 nights in July visiting for a wedding. Very spacious room and en suite, spotlessly clean. Great central location enabling us to walk everywhere in Cockermouth, parking was not a problem on our visit. Glenis and her husband were delightful and the breakfasts were excellent. Would not hesitate to reccommend.

Traveling alone as a solo female isn’t always easy, and finding suitable accommodation can be difficult. I don’t like staying in hotels that are impersonal, where you are just the guest in a room. Croft guest house was ideal. A warm welcome, tea and coffee in the room. My ensuite room was spotless, comfortable and equipped with everything I needed. Breakfast was amazing, freshly cooked and well presented. Ideally situated just off the Main Street in Cockermouth with off road car parking. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

We have stayed in some amazing hotels over the years including The Savoy in London but nothing can compare to The Croft. The place is spotless, the breakfast is amazing, the bed is the most comfortable I have slept in, even better than my own. Glenys and Dave and so welcoming and you can even buy their homemade granola, marmalades, soaps and candles, we stock up every time we visit. We cannot recommend this place highly enough and really wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Cockermouth.

We can't rate this B&B high enough and can happily recommend it to everyone. Bautifully decorated spotless rooms with comfortable king size beds, resident wooden mouse and ours also had a large modern bathroom with a fantastic walk in shower - complete with some luxurious homemade soaps. Equally importantly, great friendly hosts and probably the best breakfasts you'll find anywhere in Cockermouth or the surrounding area - from the homemade granola with oats roasted in honey and lots of fresh fruit, to the freshly baked Scotch pancakes and an incredible full-Cumbrian fry-up with the best fried-bread I have ever tasted... plus a mouthwatering selection of homemade jams & marmalades! You won't be disappointed if you wisely choose to stay at The Croft.

We have just spent five nights at Croft Guest House, our third visit to this delightful place in central Cockermouth. A convenient location for the northern and western lakes, an allocated parking space in town is a big plus. The accommodation is Immaculately presented, with everything you need for a very pleasant stay and a comfortable night’s sleep. Glenis and Dave serve an excellent breakfast, with delicious, locally sourced produce,we love Glenis’s homemade marmalade that we are now enjoying at home. They are knowledgeable and friendly hosts, we would advise contacting them direct to arrange your stay. Cockermouth is a historic market town with a range of independent shops and places to eat and drink. We look forward to staying at Croft Guest House again.

When driving down the road to the guest house you would not expect to find such a gem. Once inside, the room we stayed in showed the quirky side of the owners. The bed was extremely comfortable (husband said he got the best night’s sleep in a long time), the dressing area was well-thought out and the bathroom had an excellent shower. I have never stayed somewhere where hair straighteners were provided (as well as a decent hair dryer). I asked, if possible, if I could have decaf tea for breakfast and was surprised to find some left in the room as well. Nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is made to order and asking for my fried egg to be flipped was no trouble. Stayed two nights and the very tasty breakfasts set us for the day. If you stay be sure to check out the products for sale - candles, soap etc. They smell gorgeous. The hosts are very welcoming and you are missing a treat if you overlook this guest house.

We were delighted with our stay at the Croft. Spotlessly clean, handsomely decorated, comfortable with a very good bed. The owners looked after us perfectly but they left us to ourselves which is just how we like it. The breakfast was really good and we regarded the bill as very reasonable given the quality of the place. We will be back.

We were there for 3 nights and chose it because it looked good on the website. We were not disappointed. Our room was on the ground floor and right next to the breakfast room which was convenient. We were warmly welcomed by Glenis, the owner, and had an excellent breakfast each morning cooked by Glenis and ably served by her husband. We had a Queen size bed which was huge and very comfortable. Our en suite was a full sized bathroom with bath, shower and toilet and plenty of room. The guest house has its own parking which is a bonus as it is right in the centre of the town which allows easy access to the various restaurants and shops in the main street. We enjoyed our stay and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Croft Guest House is superb. Lovely rooms, lovely breakfasts, great location. I’m a regular guest and rate it as one of the best places I frequent. The owners are lovely too. Can’t do enough for you. Can’t recommend this B&B enough.Plus Cockermouth is a great place to stay. Quieter than Keswick, but with loads of great pubs and places to eat, rather than the mediocrity and business of the main Lake District. Dead easy access to the Northern and NW fells.Just book it…!

I stayed 2 nights whilst working in Cockermouth in September 2022Everything was excellent, including guest behaviour (mutual respect for noise reduction etc) which combined with the layout of the building made for a very comfortable stay.Breaking it down:- Rooms : High quality, spotlessly clean, well maintained and comfortable. My desk was small so I didn't use it but I found having an armchair in the room a welcome break from sitting on a bed or upright chair.- Food - Excellent breakfasts, a mixture of cold and hot options, make sure you ask what the specials are :-)- Price : Competitive and better value for money than the hotels in my opinion- Parking : I didn't use it, but it is good to know there are spaces available if planned in advance. If you can't park in situ then this might be difficult.Staff : Extremely friendly and helpfulI will definitely have them as my first choice from now on

Just stopped over for a single night on a business trip but a real treat to find. Met the owners, who were delightful and very knowledgeable in respect of local restaurants etc. A little tricky to find in a one way system - trust your satnav! Lovely freshly made cooked breakfast to order.

Our 2 nights at Croft House were quite splendid! Located on a side streetin the centre of town we found it very quiet. The whole place was immaculately clean and our room (Room 4) had a large comfy bed and a large, new bathroom. Do not forego the full English breakfast (you certainly won‘t need to buy lunch!) but, if that’s not for you, there was a wide choice of cereal, yoghurt, toast with jams and marmalades. Breakfast was freshly made by Glenis and professionally served by Dave, the current owners. Car parking is limited at the guest house but there are severalcar parks within a very short distance. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Croft House.

From the moment we arrived we had a warm welcome and were made to feel at home 🏡 We had excellent breakfasts with a great choice (daily specials also😋) of food and all were fresh and homemade to perfection. The room (no. 5) was warm, spotless clean and even had perfume samples and Glynnises homemade soaps for us to try out. There was also a fridge in the breakfast room which you could help yourselves to fresh milk and bottled water to take to your room for your coffees and teas. Every effort was made to make us have a comfortable stay which was a few minutes walk from the town and we’d definitely recommend the Croft Guest House and will definitely look forward to staying again. We also had a free parking space for the 5 days we were there .

We normally stay at Hunday Manor in the area but this year they were fully booked. A Google trawl threw up The Croft and it looked very promising so we booked. It’s fair to say they exceeded expectations on all fronts.A warm welcome from Glenis and Dave as they showed us to our room. An enormous bed in a room large enough to included two armchairs and a table led to a large bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower. Could not fault any aspect of it. Private parking though in the centre of town was an additional bonus. The breakfasts each day were superb. A good range of a the standards plus Glenis put on a special most days. As with the room, we couldn’t fault any aspect of it.It may be a while before we can return to Cumbria but when we do we’ll be devastated if we can’t book The Croft. It really is that good.

This was our second time staying with Dave and Glenis in their beautiful house. This place is an absolute gem, perfect position in the centre of Cockermouth. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast is delicious and freshly cooked mmmmm . Usually we go as a couple but this time we took our son who has special needs, Dave and Glenis made sure we had rooms next to each other which was perfect . I doubt we will get to go without him again as he absolutely loved his room and especially his breakfast . The next time we visit Cockermouth this will be where we will stay .

Just stayed 2 nights at Croft Guesthouse and cannot recommend it highly enough. Dave and Glenis made us feel so welcome. My bedroom was absolutely spot on with everything I could possibly want. I particularly likedthe room and bathroom were absolutely immaculatevery good tea and coffee tray and being able to get chilled water and fresh milk at any time.the instructions for how to get the best out of the shower (which was fab)beautiful samples of hand made soap to try (all made by Glenis)good toiletry selection including a shower capthe little box of ‘things’ you might have forgotten - corkscrew, sewing kit etc that you may need to use whilst staying.the bed was so comfy, I slept better than at homequality linens, pillows and duvetsEverything in the room has been thought about and just works as all in the right placeplenty of hangers, dressing gowns and an umbrella in the wardrobe.Breakfast was the best I have had in a long time, cannot beat Glenis’s home made granola, home made jams /marmalades and local produce for a full English plus daily specials. Massive choice even with Covid guidelines. Glenis and Dave instil confidence with Glenis in full chef’s uniform, hat and mask and Dave in black trousers, white shirt and mask.An ironing board and iron is also situated on the landing available for everyone to use if needed.Croft Guesthouse is located 100 yards off the main high street so very easy to walk everywhere but also quiet at night.Lastly upon leaving I was able to purchase hand made soap, marmalade and granola to bring home.

We stopped in the special occasions room where the bedroom leads to an opened planned dressing room with wardrobe, dressing table, tea and coffee facilities, going onto the luxurious presented bathroom with shower.Cooled water and milk available from the fridge in the dining room at all times. Breakfast was a lovely. The property is in easy walking distance of the town centre where there are a good selection of restaurants and bars. Cockermouth is a good location to access the North Lakes. Nothing negative to say. A big thank you for Dave and Glennis for a lovely stay.

What a great place to be, for location to travelling the surrounding areas and the Croft for everything being in walking distance from the doorstep in Cockermouth yet quiet peaceful.West coast Silloth down to St Bee reachable within 20/25 minute drive to watch the sunset. All the Lakes reachable within a similar time, oh yes and the Lake distillery tour, 10 minute drive from the Croft but you must book and book the bistro there at the same time, brilliant.Shops, restaurants etc walkable. Trout Inn, although not being a guest there walkable distance for evening meal and a few drinks, well recommend. Now the Croft guest house, hhmmm Glenis and Dave what can I say ? ???? GREAT, well done Glenis for putting up with Victor Meldrew all these years in Daves own words. Great couple and the place is a credit too you both may I say. We visited Cockermouth for the first time as we are taking part in the ‘Round Britain Rally’ on our motorcycle and our visit to this lovely guesthouse has been a most memorable one! From the moment we arrived we received awarm welcome from our hosts Dave and Glenis, who are very knowledgeable about the area and gave us good recommendations about where to dine out etc.The rooms are tastefully decorated and impressively spacious - with a luxury shower room.Everything you need is provided including a good hospitality tray in the room (with fresh milk and water kept in the dining room fridge to help yourself to).Lovely toiletries in the room, especially the homemade soap samples and ‘spray whilst you stay’ aftershave and perfume.A corkscrew, shoeshine kit and sewing kit also provided. The room and en-suite were immaculate.Comfy beds and quality linen, duvets, pillows and towels. The accommodation is well thought out, little special touches like an umbrella (which we took advantage of on the rainy night we stayed),plus bathrobes which are a luxury when travelling light on the motorbike! We liked that there was a laminated sign on the wall with instructions for the power shower. The dressing table mirrors is in the ‘right place’near the plugs to dry your hair with good lighting and a magnified make up mirror. The really delicious breakfast was piping hot, perfectly cooked and thoughtfully presented(in keeping with Covid-19 protocol). As seasoned travellers,we’d go as far to say - we cannot remember ever having a better cooked breakfasts anywhere! - it set the scene for a great start to our day.We felt it is a very safe place to park a motorbike, out of sight, behind the building. What we saw of Cockermouth on a rainy Thursday night was very enjoyable. We went to the Castle Bar for pre dinner drinks and chatted with some friendly locals - then onto Tarantella for a lovely authentic Italian meal.We noticed on our walk that there are quite a few nice places to eat out.We wished we had booked a two night stay to explore the area more.We hope to visit Croft Guesthouse again in the future - it was a most enjoyable experience! Many thanks and well done Dave and Glenis on your gem of a guesthouse!

We stayed in room 4 which was spacious with a king size bed. The mattress is so comfortable you could stay there all day. A large bathroom with shower, good water pressure. A great choice for breakfast and some specials. Dave and Glenys offer homemade produce which is really enjoyable. Good Covid procedures in place especially at breakfast. A fabulous location with the Main Street minutes away. We would recommend Croft House.

The Guest House is central in the Town and was easy to locate. The owners were very friendly and were there to welcome us. Our room was exceptionally clean, well presented and comfortable. The ensuite was new and had a lovely large shower.Glenis provided us with well cooked breakfasts and also a choice of delicious homemade marmalade. At the end of our stay we were able to purchase a jar along with some soap that Glenis also made during lockdown! We've had a really enjoyable and restful stay.

Glenys and Dave are very welcoming. Rooms are top drawer. Breakfast is superb. Location is central to town and a stone's throw from the Lakes.Room 6 is smaller than others and hot in the summer and I'm not a fan of Tetley tea ???? but overall it's a fabulous place to stay.

The Croft Guest House is in an ideal location, it is in walking distance from the great bars and restaurants of Cockermouth with the supermarkets a stones throw away. The owners were so accommodating and I loved the little personal touches they added to the rooms it made it very homely.Breakfast was amazing with a great selection of hot and cold, more than enough to set us up for the day.I would definitely stay here again, great experience thank you!

Was really impressed with the quality of the room and breakfast and felt it was real value for money ..Only issue we had was that our room was situated at the front and some of the guests arriving back at 2.44am were really noisy so if we stayed again I would bring ear plugs ????????
Reviewer: Julie | Mon 7th Jun 2021 | 3 years ago
We initially booked with the Croft Guest House because of location, private parking, no pets, no children and good reviews. Expectations were all met but, above and beyond, were the amazing breakfasts. Food was all freshly cooked to order, of the highest quality and a daily special dish each day. We were delighted with our stay.

We needed somewhere to stay en route between family members for our first Post Lockdown trip away. We chose the Croft because it looked like 'our kind of place'. We were not disappointed, the rooms were all very well appointed with some lovely touches - a fake(?) mouse hole in the brand new skirting board, complete with a wooden mouse peeping out!The bed was comfortable and the breakfast delicious - what more can you ask for in a Bed & Breakfast? Friendly proprietors - Glenis and Dave - finished it all off really well.No hesitation in recommending this as a place to stay - shame we only had one night.

In our opinion the best guest house we have ever stayed at.We stayed here a few years ago and it was great but now the new owners have taken over it is outstanding. The tasteful decor, the comfortable bed with beautiful bedding, the fluffy towels everything was spotlessly clean and to a high standard. The breakfasts are amazing, homemade granola (that is even nicer than my own) homemade jams and marmalade’s (we bought a couple of jars to bring home) nothing is too much trouble for Glenis and Dave. We cannot recommend this guest house highly enough.

My wife and i have just come back from a weekend at Croft house and I have to say that it is one of the nicest B&B's that we have stayed in. We stayed in the super king en suite room which is large and comfortable and there are two comfortable armchairs. There is also a table with a mirror and chair with power point, which allowed my wife to dry her hair and put on her makeup with ease. The bathroom is massive with a huge walk in shower. There is also an ironing board and iron just outside the room should you need it. The breakfasts are perfect with all local produce, and there is plenty to choose from. The whole of the house is immaculate and spotlessly clean. They take all necessary precautions to make us feel at ease in these difficult times. The small bottles of fresh milk and water in the downstairs fridge are a nice touch.Thank you for a lovely stay

It is a short stroll into town and on their recommendation we booked a meal at The Bitter End pub which was very good. Glenis and Dave were very friendly but not intrusive. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of fresh and dried fruits, cereals, yoghurt, juice, coffee and tea. Followed by your choice of cooked to order breakfast. All of which was beautifully presented. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Right in the centre of Cockermouth, but tucked away in a side street meant a lovely quiet night. A warm welcome to a very clean and tidy guest house with plenty of character. Loved the little features, like a small whole in the skirting board with an imitation mouse poking it's head out.The breakfast was superb, plenty of choice, both hot and cold. To be asked what we didn't want from the cooked breakfast item selection, rather than what we did want, was novel, the quality of locally sourced food was excellent.Highly recommended.

Croft Guest House is very conveniently located just off the High Street in Cockermouth. The town is lovely and we enjoyed our day visit. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed - including an umbrella! The house and street is very quiet. Bathroom very high spec and lovely shower. Delicious breakfast.Thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay at Croft House. Our room was tastefully decorated with a great bathroom. We went to the Bitter End pub for dinner (which I’d definitely recommend) but there are several other pubs and restaurants just a short walk away. The cooked breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed the homemade granola.

We had a really superb stay at Croft House.Glenis and David are welcoming and friendly but never intrusive. We were very impressed with the bedroom, with its very tasteful furnishings and super, modern ensuite. The breakfast was extremely good, with home-made granola, a great variety of fresh and dried fruit, home-made jams etc. There was a good choice of cooked breakfasts and I really enjoyed Glenis' special, which was a vegetarian dish that day: mushrooms cooked with onions and garlic and accompanied by two small puff pastry rounds!I rarely have a cooked breakfast but this was not to be missed.Croft House is situated on a small road, just off the main road, so very convenient for all the lovely restaurants in Cockermouth; there is very helpful information in the bedroom, giving a description of several of these eating places, but we were already booked into Quince & Medlar, which we can also highly recommend! An added bonus is knowing that, wherever possible, food is sourced locally at Croft House and that the drinks (apart from the coffee sachets in the bedroom sadly) are Fairtrade. We are delighted that we discovered Croft House and we are already recommending it to family and friends - and will definitely hope to return.

The rooms at Croft House have luxury décor and comfort level is high, the hosts Glennis and David take great care of their guests and can cater for most tastes at breakfast with exceptional quality choices.

Nice rooms, quiet, outstanding breakfast but hosts need to be warmer. If a guest wishes to reconfirm that an item is actually gluten free, a courteous reply is required, not a look of indignation. If 2 attempts are made to ring a non-functioning doorbell forcing the need for a phone call, an apology is in order, not a query as to why an attempt was not made to ring the bell!If you don't like running a guest house, don't do it

An exceptional guest house. Quaint and quirky with some well thought of features. Lovely hosts who will attend to all your needs. Breakfast was outstanding with a variety of granola/muesli, fresh fruit, jams, and juices and of course a full English. Vegetarian went down well for me. beds were very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Showers are amazing.Very close to shops and the river. Situated just off a side street so lovely and quiet. We will definitely be back and will recommend to others.

We stayed at Croft Guest House for the weekend for a family wedding. Our room was beautifully decorated and clean. We were warmly greeted by Glenis and Dave who were lovely hosts. Breakfast was delicious with a wide range of choices. We had full English and it didn’t disappoint! Cockermouth is such a pretty market town with lots of cafes, restaurants and bars to choose from, lovely shops and full of friendly faces. I can’t recommend highly enough and would definitely revisit.

Very warm welcome, beautifully presented Guesthouse and in a superb position with parking! Room was spotlessly clean, big, tea and coffee etc. Plenty of fresh towels, hairdryer, biscuits, dressing gowns, fan if needed and extra blankets.Toiletries and shower cap supplies and everything refreshed each day. Breakfast was freshly made to order with plenty of cereAls, toast, fruit and yoghurt.A special each morning excellently presented.Bottled water and fresh milk in the fridge in the breakfast room which you can help yourself to.The only thing I would have liked is to have a vanilla yoghurt or flavoured yoghurt as well as Greek natural yoghurt. Beds extremely comfy and the whole guesthouse excellent. In the heart of Cockermouth but out of the way of any street noise.Things to see and plenty of restaurants within minutes away.Plenty of buses to catch nearby as well.

Everything about Croft is 5*. From the booking process to check out the owners could not have done more to help and make us feel welcome. Our room was delightful; the breakfast 'specials' were fabulous. Add to that its great location, both for the vibrant town of Cockermouth and the stunning Lake District and the picture of this absolute gem is complete.

We were greeted by Dave who was friendly and cheerful, would thoroughly recommend the full English for breakfast it was absolutely yummy. Our room was clean, had a great nights sleep, bed and pillows super comfortable.Great position of property right in the centre of a Cockermouth which comes with parking. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Added touches of bath robes, fresh milk and chilled water enhanced our stay. The breakfasting area is immaculate and the cooked breakfast was perfect. I really liked the fact that the plates were hot as this can very often be neglected by other establishments.Overall a perfect stay and we would recommend.

A warm welcome and quickly shown our rooms which had all the facilities we were expecting . The house seemed newly decorated throughout and was very clean and tidy. Our room was quite hot but opening the window cured that. All the fittings seemed quite new and of a high standard. The house is very close to the town centre with sufficient parking for our group’s cars. Breakfast was perfect with everything freshly served according to our wishes, as plentiful as we wish and a ‘today’s special’on offer too.All together Croft Guest House is a great place to stop and made a perfect base. No hesitation in recommending a stay.

Spotless ensuite every day. Just a short walk to the Main Street where you'll find the best coffee shop in the Lakes just to the left of the corner. Loved it all. Barb & Jeff

Well where do I start? The host and hostess were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was absolutely first class, clean and well decorated. We had a super king size bed that was more comfortable than our own. The breakfast was absolutely heaven, the best I have had anywhere. It is a 3 minute walk to the main high st with lovely little shops that make up the beauty of this quaint town.We usually stop in hotels but if all B&B's were this good then we will have to have a rethink.Would highly recommend Croft House to anybody visiting Cockermouth and the surrounding area. 5*

Everything was spot on. Lovely room, upgraded to a king size bed at no extra cost. Bed vas very comfortable with bedding Right for the season which gave us a very good nights sleep. Comfortable chair to sit on, plenty of plugs for phones etc. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, toilet had bath and shower and decorated beautifully again. We had a lovely breakfast, good quality ingredients cooked how we asked. Everything from fresh fruit to home made marmalade and jam and fruit juice to help yourself to. We got a nice welcome when we arrived, everything was explained and keys for getting in and out when we wanted. Hosts took time for a wee blether when we pail our bill on leaving.Could find not

Close to a variety of restaurants for evening meals.Would highly recommend.

The rooms were exceptionally clean and a decent size. The bed linen was clean, starched and of good thread count. The room we had was a twin that was tastefully decorated in a modern contemporary style. Parking was on site and the owners let us park most of the morning so we could walk around and discover this quaint town. The B & B is in town, but in a quiet street which was only a short walk of 2 minutes down to the main street. I loved everything about this small quaint B & B and would recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in the ancient market town of Cockermouth. The breakfast is freshly cooked (The Full Monty) with a good assortment of cereals, fresh fruit salad, yogurts and fruit juices. The breakfast room is clean, comfortable and the hosts are friendly and accommodating. The showers are small, but the owners have told me they are in the process of upgrading and enlarging them.

I was recommended the Croft Guest House in teh Lonely Planet GB Guide. I've always trusted these guides, and I wasn't let down this time: the stay was excellent! Cockermouth is lovely, and the stay was very peaceful. I'd particularly recommend the home-made muesli and marmalade. If visiting, try the vegetarian restaurant (Quince and The Medlar, I think it was called--we couldn't get in, but the food smelled awesome). Very welcoming and helpful proprietors too (Guest house, not the restaurant :-) )! Thanks!

Quickest check in ever from a considerate and efficient owner. Lovely room, excellent en-suite and a very good breakfast. Barbara was very friendly, attentive and informative, giving us tips for local attractions as we were stranded due to a smashed windscreen on the journey up and had to await repairs. We were delighted with our stay at Croft Guest House. We were warmly welcomed, the room was spotlessly clean, and the breakfasts were superb.Added to which the location is excellent - just a short walk from fine restaurants and pubs.

We were really pleased with our choice for a Saturday night stay in Cockermouth.Despite arriving two hours earlier than we'd stated on our booking, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our room by Eddie who advised us about places to eat and the need to book or go out early. We were in Room 6 , one of the smaller doubles on the second floorThe room was spotless, not too small, with lots of attention to detail such as :- plenty of tea, coffee etc.., plugs available without crawling on the floor, nice range of toiletries, bath robes. The bed was very comfortable and a good night's sleep was had.Breakfast was really excellent with a wide range of cereals, fruit salad, dried fruits , welsh cakes, homemade bread to chose from before the cooked breakfast. The cooked breakfast was fantastic also.On leaving we found our car battery was flat and Eddie provided invaluable assistance helping us get it started.Thank you for a lovely visit , we hope to come again soon.Mary and Jon

2nd time we have stayed at Croft Guest House, and once again we enjoyed the stay. Comfortable bed, nice size room, nice large bathroom, breakfast most enjoyable, including pre-run porridge. Only downside, was barking dog next door, and small confusion with breakfast times, as there is nothing indicated in book of instructions in the room. We'll be back.

What a hidden gem! Lovely room and en-suite with huge comfortable 6ft bed (something a lot of B&B's fail to deliver). Excellent breakfasts with a nice variety on offer. Very welcoming hosts and private parking in a quiet but central location. Highly recommended!

Clean, attractive rooms; good welcome and throughout the stay; lovely breakfast room with exceptionally good choices for breakfast.Don't be put off by the initial view of the narrow road where Croft is situated.Just one niggle - there were road works in the main street and only 1 possible way into the road because of the one way system: we had to go round 3 times before we worked out how to get there. An email with directions would have been appreciated.

I have never stayed in any guest house or hotel which compared to the quality of Croft House. From the welcoming host, to the lovely décor, generous amenities, to the fantastic breakfast, this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I will certainly stay there again should I be in the area and highly recommend it.

Lovely night at the guesthouse, on our way to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games. Very friendly greeting from the owner and the room was immaculate with a nice alcove with the childrens bed in. They enjoyed the bunk bed. Free wifi in the room was a bonus. Breakfast was very tasty with everything fresh made to order. The Salmon and eggs were thoroughly enjoyed. Many hotels would be ashamed of the service and quality of the room.

Our second stay at this lovely hotel. The proprietors are so welcoming and hospitable. The rooms are extremely well appointed with lots of lovely little touches in the bathroom. Very home from home - so comfortable and extremely good value for money. Eddie's breakfasts are to die for.

Wonderful little find.Hosts are very welcoming. We stayed in the family room which had a seperate small section which housed the children.Much better than the usual extra beds crammed in one room. Will definitely be back when next in the area.

We stayed at the Croft Guest house in April 14 and were immediately impressed. We were given a warm and friendly welcome. The rooms were immaculate and contained very useful information for vistors about the local area. Breakfast was superb - fruit juice, cereal, scottish pancakes (and more) and all the ingredients of a 'full english' cooked breakfast with a 'special' alternative everyday (scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, eggs benedict and others) all immaculately cooked to order. Will definitely go there again the next time we visit the north-western Lakes. Cannot recommend you highly enough - we'd give you six stars ! Thank you so much.

What a wonderful stay we had, Cockermouth is beautiful and everyone seemed so friendly. Croft Guest House was in a fantastic location, the room was large, very clean and well appointed and as for the breakfast, what a brilliant way to start any day. Hosts were very friendly and full of information, they even got some little yogurts for our daughter, if we ever go to Cockermouth again we know exactly where to stay!

My partner and I stayed at Croft Guest House for the night as we explored Cockermouth. We can't rate the service highly enough - lovely, comfortable room, nice toiletries supplied, yummy biscuits, delicious breakfast, and Edward has excellent local knowledge. The bar he recommended to us for dinner was SO good. Looking forward to returning - we've already recommended to our friends!

This inviting guesthouse is the perfect location to stay when exploring the northern and western lake district. It feels like home with all the benefits of a hotel. Great room, lovely few and biscuit selection and wonderful breakfast each morning. Eddie and his team are all very professional and knowledgeable of the local area.

Stayed here a few times now, never a complaint. Despite the late 9pm arrival, welcomed as always. Shown quickly to room and left to it. Room spotless, warm and comfortable. Huge breakfast (fry) made to order the next morning, no need to eat the rest of the day - absolutely delicious and all served with a smile. Couldn't recommend this guest house higher - if you are in the area stay here.

A quiet location yet just off the main street, and with parking spaces.A well furnished room with a table just big enough to take a lap top.No guest lounge but Cockermouth's welcoming pubs are literally just round the corner ... and I don't remember having a better breakfast, with first rate produce and individual touches such as scots pancakes.Excellent.
